Before the opening the Olympics in 1980 the Soviet government set a task to build a brewery, a beer which would meet European standards. As experts were invited by Czech specialists, world-renowned masters of brewing. They chose the place for the new brewery. The only criteria - availability of artesian water, which is the main component that determines the taste of beer. The place was elected district Obolon, which is located near the Dnieper River in Kiev. Word Obolon comes from Kievan Rus, the so-called low river meadows. That is the name that the new brewery. Built by Czech design, plant cooking beer that has gained popularity and recognition. After Ukraine gained independence Obolon first started to export its products to Europe and the USA. Beer under the trademark Obolon started to be recognized as traditional Ukrainian beer. Thus, Obolon established a new tradition of Ukrainian brewing.
Over time Obolon developing and promoting its products on domestic and foreign markets. Principle of modern knowledge and technology allowed it to create a powerful modern production capacity. As a result, 80% of the total beer exports from Ukraine is a trademark Obolon, a Ukrainian beer number 1 in the world. Being the company with the Ukrainian capital, Obolon established a new path of development of Ukrainian Brovarnytstva.
